Phantom experiments of fitted background optical properties versus iteration. Intralipid was used as the first layer and the silicon phantom 1 was used as the second layer. The depth of the intralipid layer was 2.4 cm. The measured optical properties of Intralipid were μ_a=0.022 cm^-1 and ${\mu }_s^{\prime }=7.2{\mathrm{cm}}^{-1}$, and those of the silicon phantom 1 were μ_a=0.06 cm^-1 and ${\mu }_s^{\prime }=15{\mathrm{cm}}^{-1}$.
