Table 2.

Effect of pHi on the MT rates, kmf and kfm, from the solid pool (with population fraction pm) to the free water pool (with population fraction pf) and in the reverse direction, respectively. The third and fourth rows report the correlations between pHi, [H+], and the MT parameter estimates.. Pool size ratio (pm/pf) and slow recovery rate ( R1) are also reported. Statistical tests reflect removal of outlying point and its pair (see Text). Significant findings are indicated with superscripts; the same notation as in Table 1 has been continued here. For means, significance reflects differences from control condition. Note that because kfm is not an independent measurement, statistics for this variable are not presented.
