The ventral and rostral areas are differentiated with NeuN, SMI32, and parvalbumin (Parv). A Parv plexus is particularly notable in layer VI of area 24a and differentiation of areas 25 and 10m is clear in all preparations. The composition of area 24a is shown at higher magnification (arrow in Parv) with the homogeneous layers III, V, and VI (NeuN) and heavy NFP expression in layer V and a similar motif is observed in area 25 (SMI32), although NFP expression is much more limited in this latter area.
