We built a population model describing the immature (left) and the adult (right) stages of the Cory's Shearwater life-cycle. Each arrow corresponds to a parameter in eq. 1 describing the transition from the age–stage class i to the age-stage class j between t and t+1. The immature part includes the probabilities (G₃, G₄, G₅ and G₆) that describe the progressive recruitment of immature birds into the breeding pool. Note that adult parameters were assumed to be age-independent.
