Systemic delivery of LacZ transgene by AAVM41 into striated muscles. (A) X-gal staining of cross-sections of hearts after systemic administration of AAV vectors. 3 × 10¹¹ vector genomes of AAV9- or M41-CB-LacZ were injected via tail vein into adult mice; and 1 × 10¹² vector genomes of AAV9- or M41-CMV-LacZ were injected via jugular vein into adult hamsters. Hearts from mice or hamsters were collected at 2-weeks or 3-weeks post injection for X-gal and eosin staining. Two magnifications (4× and 40×) were used for photography.
