For NEFA determination, blood samples were taken at various time points after injection with saline or AICAR. For P-AMPK and P-ACC, adipocytes were isolated from epididymal fat pads and prepared for Western blotting analyses. Blots are representative of three independent experiments. All other data were compiled from three to four independent experiments, with n = 12–15 for each condition. Unpaired t-tests and one-way ANOVAs were performed for statistical analyses. Data for NEFAs, glucose, and palmitate oxidation were compiled from three to four independent experiments, with n = 5–8 for each condition.
