Genealogy of Plant Material.

A_D, A_Y, and A_R designate the A genome from B. napus cv Darmor-bzh, B. napus cv Yudal, and B. rapa cv Chicon (C1.3), respectively. Likewise, C_D, C_Y, and C_O designate the C genome from B. napus cv Darmor-bzh, B. napus cv Yudal, and B. oleracea cv RC, respectively. A_RD and A_RY indicate that chromosomes from B. rapa recombined with those of Darmor and Yudal, respectively. C_OD and C_OY indicate that chromosomes from B. oleracea recombined with those of Darmor and Yudal, respectively. A′_DC′_D and A′_YC′_Y indicate that chromosome rearrangements partially reshuffled the A and C genomes of Darmor-bzh and Yudal, respectively. (1) The two haploid progenies were used to compare the frequencies at which chromosome rearrangements were generated during meiosis of haploid Darmor-bzh (A_DC_D) versus haploid Yudal (A_YC_Y). (2) and (3) Progenies of triploid and tetraploid hybrids were used to compare the effects of Darmor versus Yudal genotypes on the frequency of homologous recombination on A7/R7.
