Insulin sensitivity and glucose transport in LAD- and HAD-fed mice. a, 4-week-old female mice of the C57/BL6 strain were fed a LAD or a HAD diet as described under “Experimental Procedures.” At week (w) 22 (a) and week 9 (b) mice were injected intraperitoneally with insulin (0.75 milliunits/g of body weight) followed by determinations of blood glucose levels at the indicated times. Values are expressed as the means ± S.D. c and d, mice fed LAD or HAD for 9 or 22 weeks were subjected to intravenous injection of 1 μCi of 2-deoxy-d-[1-³H]glucose and intraperitoneal injection of insulin.
