As described previously (40), the mRNA expression was defined by the change, as follows: overexpressed, ≥2.0-fold change; and underexpressed, ≤0.5-fold change. The data are the means ± standard deviations of five independent experiments. The ΔiglA mutant was shown to produce less iglB transcript according to a two-sided paired Student t test (*, P < 0.01; **, P < 0.001).
