Deletion of CTR9 reduces nonsense suppression of all three stop codons. Read-through of reporter constructs containing the indicated stop codon was assayed and expressed as the fold change of the [psi−] strain. Each bar in the graphs represents the mean and SD of three independent cultures assayed on the same day. Whereas the absolute fold change varied between days, the overall trend remained the same. (A) Δctr9 reduces nonsense suppression by [PSI+] at each of the stop codons. s[PSI+] and w[PSI+], strong and weak [PSI+] strains, respectively.
