TIQ-A-dependent atherosclerotic plaque regression is associated with significant lowering in total serum cholesterol and LDL in ApoE(-/-) mice on a high-fat-followed-by-regular-diet regimen. The different experimental groups were fasted and anesthetized, and blood was drawn for sera preparation. Plasma cholesterol and LDL (milligrams per deciliter) were analyzed using a commercially available kit; n = 6. *, difference from ApoE(-/-) mice fed the high-fat diet for 16 weeks; ‡, difference from ApoE(-/-) mice fed the high-fat diet for 12 weeks followed by 4 weeks of regular diet; †, difference from ApoE(-/-) mice fed the high-fat diet and administered TIQ-A for 4 weeks.
