The second oldest trifoliate leaf of the Mn-sensitive cultivar TVu 91 was tested for Mn and Si effects. After 14 d of preculture with or without Si, plants received 50 μM Mn (+Mn) for 3 d or 0.2 μM Mn (–Mn) continuously. Bulk-leaf, AWF- and non-polar apoplastic metabolites were extracted (n=5 and 6, respectively) as described in the Materials and methods. ICA was conducted using MetaGeneAlyse at http://metagenealyse.mpimp-golm.mpg.de.
