The metabolic network of arachidonic acid in human PMN, EC and PLT. Two pathways are responsible for the production of inflammatory mediators: COX-2 pathway and 5-LOX pathway. LTB4 and PGE2 are major inflammatory mediators produced in the AAnetwork. PGI2 and TXA2 are vasoactive molecules, the abnormal production of which causes bleeding and cardiovascular disease.
