Percentage of spheroid-associated nanoparticles that penetrate past the outer few cell layers as a function of nanoparticle size. Spheroid cores were isolated by removing the outer cell layers of the spheroids with gentle trypsinization. The number of nanoparticles associated with the whole spheroids and spheroid cores was quantified by fluorescence measurements.
