Adhesion to fibronectin induces G₁/S phase progression in 32D and 32Dp210 cells. 32D and 32Dp210 cells were cultured on fibronectin-coated dishes and harvested at 24 and 48 hr. Their DNA content was measured by propidium iodide (PI) staining and FACS. Shown here are the fluorescence histograms for adherent (solid lines) and nonadherent (dashed lines) 32D and 32Dp210 cells incubated for 24 or 48 hr. The two major peaks observed in adherent cells represent, from left to right, G₁ and G₂/M. Adhesion reduces the number of G₀/G₁ and increases the number of S-G₂/M phase 32D as well as 32Dp210 cells.
