Southern blot analysis of gene copy numbers for HcMT1 (A) and HcMT2 (B). Genomic DNA was digested with the indicated restriction enzymes, and DNA fragments were separated on a 0.8% agarose gel, transferred to nylon membranes, and hybridized with a radiolabeled HcMT1 or HcMT2 probe. The membranes were washed at high stringency and exposed to phosphorimaging screens and scanned using a Bio-Rad personal phosphorimager scanner.
