The nSMase inhibitor GW4869 reverses hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction in vivo. Recordings of systemic (left panel, in closed chest rats via a catheter in the carotid artery) and pulmonary (right panel, in open chest rats via a catheter advanced through the right ventricle into the main pulmonary artery) arterial pressure in anesthetized ventilated rats treated with DMSO (vehicle) (A) or 1 mg Kg−1 of GW4869 (B) administered intraperitoneally.
