Mice expressing intermediate CD45 levels survive B. anthracis infection. A, mice with intermediate CD45 expression levels (62%) challenged with Ames B. anthracis spores showed a 65% survival rate. In contrast, CD45100%, CD450%, CD4511%, CD4536%, or CSV10+/- (62%) mice with inactive CD45 phosphatase activity showed little to no protection after B. anthracis challenge.
