S-1-P mediated activation of PDK1 and akt was inhibited by the presence of the oxygen free radical scavenger N-acetylcysteine and the NAD(P)H oxidase inhibitor DPI. Inhibition of EGFR with AG1478 (10nM) also inhibited PDK1 and akt activation in response to S-1-P. Values are the mean±SEM of the ratio of the phosphorylation of the respective protein relative to the total unphosphosylated protein (n=6, *p<0.05 compared to control).
