Closed symbols indicate that the expression level was significantly different from virgin levels (i.e. hour 0) within each sex even after a sequential Dunn–Šidák correction. ‘Asterisks’ indicate significant differences as detected across the sexes. ‘Daggers’ indicate that a significant difference was detected prior to a sequential Dunn–Šidák correction, but not after the correction was applied.
