Adoptive transfer of Mart-1 specific CTL decreases the growth of established melanoma. SCID mice (n = 4) were injected s.c. with HLA-A2+ melanoma cells for induction of tumor growth. After 2 weeks, these mice were infused i.v. with Mart-1 specific CTL (3 × 106 cells/mouse) and were also injected with rhIL-2 (2 × 105 IU/mouse) on days 0 and 2. Untreated mice and CMV-pp65 specific CTL treated mice served as controls. Thereafter, all mice were assessed for tumor growth. The products of perpendicular diameters were determined and expressed as mean ± SD. The difference in the tumor growth between Mart-1 specific CTL treated group and the control groups was statistically significant (* P < 0.025) as analyzed by Wilcoxon rank sum test.
