A. The doubling time during exponential growth was determined in LB at 37°C by monitoring A₆₀₀. B. Cell length distribution of cells for each strain during exponential growth was determined by FACS using light scattered by cells in the forward (FSC-H) and side (SSC-H) directions. ftsZ^ts cells exponentially grown at 30°C were shifted to 42°C for 2 h prior to FACS analysis.
