Effects of naloxone on the brain BDNF mRNA expression increased by i.c.v. morphine 100 μg or i.c.v. DAMGO 1.5 μg. Naloxone 1 mg/kg was administered subcutaneously 15 min before administration of morphine or DAMGO. Levels of BDNF mRNA expression were determined 3 h after i.c.v. administration of drugs. Quantification of BDNF mRNA signals in different brain regions are represented as mean percent of the vehicle+vehicle group. *, P<0.05 and **, P<0.01 compared with Veh+Veh; #, P<0.05 and ##, P<0.01 compared with Veh+(morphine or DAMGO).
