A CpG island was scored as methylation positive when it was methylated by MIRA microarray analysis in at least two of five squamous cell carcinomas. This list of genes was compared with the genes occupied by H3K27me3 in human embryonic stem cells according published data [79]. A Venn diagram shows the degree of overlap. Seventy-nine percent of the methylated promoter-associated CpG islands are Polycomb targets in embryonic stem cells.
