LN-1 and NGF distribution in continuous-gradient anisotropic scaffolds. Figure 3A is a schematic of a NGC connected to nerve ends, with four layers of gels in it. LN-1 gradient is smooth (Fig. 3B), as determined by LN-1 ELISA, while NGF-loaded LMTs are distributed in a step-gradient fashion (Fig. 3C). With time, NGF will diffuse out of LMTs and form a smooth gradient.
