Total number of myelinated axons. There was no significant difference between step-gradients and nerve grafts. There was no significant difference between the two gradient scaffolds themselves. At mid-length, the continuous-gradient scaffolds had lower number of myelinated axons than nerve grafts (# p-value < 0.05). All error bars indicate standard error of mean.
