PDCDA layer thickness versus number of layers on the gold substrate. The linear increase in the layer thickness suggests uniform deposition of DCDA for each deposition cycle. The slope of the line is (23 ± 1) Å, and the intercept corresponds to layer 0 (of 16-mercaptohexadecanoic acid on gold) is (25 ± 3) Å.
