Effect of FXR deficiency on liver histopathology and steatosis in LDLr-/- mice fed a high-fat diet. The LDLr-/- mice and LDLr-/-/FXR-/- mice were fed either a control diet or a high-fat diet for 5 months. Liver histology in each group of mice was evaluated after hematoxylin and eosin staining (A, C, E, and G) of livers from each group. Lipid accumulation in livers from each group of mice was evaluated by Oil Red O staining (B, D, F, and H).
