Neighbor-joining trees (17) relating the five Colombian Amerind populations examined (Embera, Ingano, Ticuna, Wayuu, Zenu) (A) or Y chromosomes bearing a T or a C at locus DYS199 (B) to the Yanomama, Dutch, Basque, Catalan, and Pygmy populations. The trees are based on distance matrices calculated by using Nei’s standard genetic distance (21) from allele frequency data for six Y microsatellite loci [data for the non-Colombian populations is from De Kniff et al. (22), which does not include information for locus DYS388]. Numbers indicate % bootstrap values for 1,000 bootstraps.
