Figure 1

An S-shaped response curves representing tumor control probability (TCP) and normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) postradiotherapy as a function of treatment factors. The probabilities could be constructed as a function of heterogeneous variables (dose-volume metrics, biomarkers, and clinical factors). The radiotherapy treatment objective is to maximize the therapeutic index for each patient case.
