Data are presented as means ± SEM. Female C57/B16, 129 (wild type), NFκB (p105) knockout, and COX-2 knockout mice were treated with saline or aspirin (100 mg/kg) for 3 days by oral gavage during the induction of the air pouch. The pouches were injected with 2% (wt/vol) carrageenan, and 4 h later, the animals were killed, and the exudates were collected and kept frozen (−20°C) until the prostaglandin E2 content was assayed by using a commercial ELISA kit. Each determination was carried out in triplicate.
