Plasmids containing the PHO4 gene from various hemiascomycetes (labeled on the right) were transformed into S. cerevisiae (left two columns) and C. glabrata mutants (right two columns) defective in one or both transcription factors (pho4Δ and pho4Δpho2Δ). Phosphatase activity was determined as described in Figure 2 and is representative of multiple transformants.
