The ruins of Cerro Azul, Peru occupy a depression between sea cliffs on the west and Cerro Camacho on the east. Structures A-J and 9 predate the Inca conquest of A.D. 1470; Structures 1 and 3 were built after the Inca arrived. The dashed lines on Cerro Camacho indicate artificial terraces, created by the dumping of refuse. Peña, playa, and costa are local names for the environmental zones. This figure has been published previously (26).
