Note: Values are numbers of CTB-positive neurons in each structure (1–2 sections per rat), as determined by CTB-immunoreactivity (CTB+). CTB-positive neurons that are also positive for the 5-HT_2A receptor transcript (CTB+/5-HT_2A+), were identified by the presence of the 2 markers (see Methods). Only neurons with unambiguous labeling for both markers were considered positive, as in the examples shown in Figure 3B.
