Weights of individuals were compared between the first body weight measurements at 19 to 24 months of age and the final measurements taken during the last month of life. WT mice showed an average loss of several grams during senescence (A,B) while male RIIβ−/− littermates maintained their body weight (A). This phenomenon was not seen in RIIβ−/− females (B).
