The tick marks on the x-axis represent a common range of proportion from the data value minus 0.1 to the data value plus 0.1, as illustrated in the box at the bottom of the figure. For the confidence categories, “−−−” is high-confidence new, “+++” is high-confidence old, and the other symbols represent lower confidence responses.
