Maximum intensity projection of transverse slices of the entire monkey body, of [1-¹¹C]DHA images summed from 0–6 min. The viewer is looking at the front of the animal, with the animal's right to the viewer's left. There was very rapid, prominent appearance of activity in the liver. Scanning started at the beginning of tracer injection into the left femoral vein; it and the inferior vena cava are visualized. Extrapolating monkey data to humans, only ∼0.5% of the injected [1-¹¹C]DHA goes into the brain.
