1 The right hepatic artery and the artery to segment IV are separated. 2 The ductus choledochus (main bile duct) is suprapancreatically cut and the left hepatic duct is separated in the umbilical fissure near the branch to segments 2 or 3. 3 Resecting the fork of the portal vein provides a wider safety margin to the tumor.
