Osmotic water permeability (Pf) and ionic conductance (G) data are shown as mean ± SEM; n values (# oocytes) are shown in parentheses. Net ionic conductance values at 14 mM sodium nitroprusside (SNP) were normalized to the mean net conductance value of the wild type channel from the same batch of oocytes at 14 mM SNP. Net conductance values were calculated by subtracting the matched initial values recorded prior to SNP application individually from the SNP response for each oocyte. An asterisk (*) indicates values significantly different from wild type (p < 0.04; unpaired two-tailed Student's t test).
