Three diagnostic definitions were used; definite gastroparesis, delayed gastric emptying and typical symptoms; probable gastroparesis, typical symptoms as above and food retention on endoscopy or upper GI study; possible gastroparesis, typical symptoms alone or delayed gastric emptying without GI symptoms.
