Overexpression of GFP-ABCA1 in N2a cells increases PrPC concentration. (a) GFP-ABCA1 and (b) GFP transfected neuroblastoma cells were analyzed by immunofluorescence 72 hr after transfection using anti-PrP Fab and DAPI staining. Green, red and blue pseudocolors show localization of GFP-ABCA1, PrP, and the nuclei; ‘merge’ shows their overlap. PrP fluorescence intensity in arbitrary units was quantified and expressed as a frequency distribution for (c) GFP-ABCA1 transfected cells and (d) GFP transfected cells.
