Pollination of the vertically arranged bird-pollinated flower of Thaumatococcus sp.1 nov. The flower is cut open (hatched) to allow view inside the floral tube. The olive sunbird (Cyanomitra olivaceus cf.) intrudes its beak into the flower tube thereby deflecting the trigger appendage which leads to the rolling-in movement of the style and the subsequent pollen deposition onto the beak.
