DNA extension change due to protein-induced DNA bending. The results of computer simulation were obtained for a discrete wormlike chain whose length corresponded to a 3000-bp DNA. The protein binding site was localized in the middle of the chain and its length corresponded to 6 nm (▴) and 10 nm (▾). The bend angle (ϕ) was uniformly distributed along the site. The values of ϕ used in the computations are shown near the corresponding data.
