Current clamp recordings from MNTB neurons on injection of depolarising current show the phenotypic one or two initial action potentials on depolarising current injection: 200 pA (A) and 600 pA (B) in control (2.5 mm K+) aCSF (top). Addition of E-4031 (1 μm), included in the patch pipette (lower traces), caused a significant increase in neuronal firing in all cells tested. The current steps are shown below.
