Protein crystals obtained on the PhaseChip for different quench times. On the left side of the device, the quench time is shortest (4 hours) and hence the supersaturation is lowest, so only few crystals nucleate. On the right side, the quench time is longest (6 hours), the supersaturation is largest and there is one or more crystals per drop. The scale bar is 500 μm.
