A and B. HUVEC cells in a conditioned medium from PaCa cells overexpressing NGAL (A) or NGAL-shRNA (B) and their controls were seeded onto the Matrigel™-coated plate and incubated for 16 h. The tube formation was photographed and counted under a microscope as described in Materials and Methods. Representative fields are shown in Suppl. Fig. 2A. The results are expressed as the percentage of the control. C and D. The levels of VEGF in culture medium from PaCa cells overexpressing NGAL (C) or NGALshRNA (D) and their controls were detected by ELISA as described in Materials and Methods. Values are means ± SE of 3 independent experiments performed in duplicate. *P < 0.05.
