(A) Prevalence of IFNγ ELISPOT responses to each of the 9 HIV-1 proteins among 34 antiretroviral-naïve or highly viremic subjects, stratified by age. Recognition of HIV-1-Gag increased with age (Chi-square test for trend, p=0.011). No statistically significant trend was observed for the other viral proteins. (B) The same data are displayed as the relative proportion of the total HIV-specific response targeting each individual viral protein (calculated as the protein-specific SFC/million divided by the total; Chi-square test for trend, p<0.001). (C) The total magnitude of the Gag-specific response in subjects older than 24 months was significantly higher than in those <24 months old (Wilcoxon rank-sum Test, p=0.014).
