^aTER of Matrigel-grown cells was significantly reduced from that of cells grown without Matrigel only at 2 and 3 h (P = 0.004 and 0.017 respectively, t test). Baseline readings for Matrigel only or filters alone were significantly lower than TER values for cells grown with and without Matrigel (data not shown).
