Dose-toxicity and cytokine data for cigarette smoke extract (CSE). Human tracheobronchial epithelial (hTBE) cells were plated in an adherent monolayer and exposed to various concentrations of cigarette smoke extract as indicated for 48 hours. (A) ATP reagent was added, and relative intensity was quantified using a luminometer. (B) Trypan blue solution (0.4%) was filtered and added to the cell media in a 10% solution. Alive and dead cells were counted, and percent cell death was calculated. (C) Light micrographs were obtained. (D) Human IL-6 was determined by ELISA.
