Filopodia were short and rudimentary in the REN cells (A, black arrows), but were increased in length in cells (B, white arrows). The frequency distribution of the lengths of the filopodia (< 20 μm, 20–40 μm, and >400 μm) was plotted (C) and revealed that unlike the REN cells, the majority of filopodia emanating from the REN-HP cells were greater than 20 μm and frequently extended beyond 40 μm (n = 60).
